I’ve been trying to live offline for a couple of months now.
I know you’d agree that the general culture in perhaps 80% of the populated world is sickeningly overwhelming.
Every time you log on to a social media app, every single person seem to be word-vomiting mostly non-sensical and highly opinionated takes; with an overconfident attitude that makes my jaw ache from how far it’s dropping.
The over consumerism is also getting out of hand, that I had to take some time to reflect many times- do I want to buy this thing because I honest-to-god can’t live without it, or do I want it because it would fit in with the aesthetics of my online profile really well?
If I said it once, I’ve said it a hundred times. Technology has ruined our lives. It has its perks, yes. After all, humans have been able to live past 30 because of tech. But at what cost? It seems like, we’re going to go full circle where the thing that helped save us, will be the thing that destroys us. How ironic.
How is offline living treating me? Well, a little bit better, but similar to most cases of addiction, there will be period of withdrawal and a stretch of time where habits will be hard to break.
Nevertheless, and regardless of existing mental health struggles, things seem minuscule-y better. In a year or two, maybe progress will be more prominent.
